The Social Science Laboratory invites applications for a postdoctoral research position. Current projects examine psycho-social factors and how these affect physical and mental health outcomes, with a special focus on people living with HIV (for more information:https://www.uab.edu/cas/psychology/people/primary-faculty-directory/bulent-turan ). The position is for one year initially, with the potential of one year extension. Duties of the post-doctoral fellow will include: participating in and preparing conference presentations and scientific articles for publication, overseeing data collection, conducting data analyses, supervising research assistants, and interfacing and working with researchers and practitioners who are collaborators.
An advanced research or clinical degree is required for this position. Individuals may have a PhD in Psychology, Sociology, Cognitive or Affective Neuroscience, Public Health, or related fields. Individuals with an MD, DO, ND, or other advanced clinical degree are also eligible to apply if they have substantial research experience.
The applicant should have strong writing skills, since writing manuscripts will be a major part of the duties in this position. A good publication record is desirable. Possession of skills in unique statistical and data-analytic techniques (e.g., HLM, SEM) is helpful, but not required.
