Job Description

RESEARCH SUPPORT ASSOCIATE 2, Biology, to perform a variety of complex technical duties involved in maintaining and creating new yeast strains, conducting experiments, and support activities for Lew lab research operations; perform a variety of technical duties involved in conducting biological and other research: molecular biology techniques, lab management,  and making media; confer with a principal investigator to review work assignments and develop plans for research experiments; make minor modifications to existing laboratory procedures and techniques to meet the needs of the particular equipment as required; review and use laboratory protocols, and use scientific journals, sequence databases, and other information applicable to research experiments; maintain lab apparatus and operate laboratory equipment required for specific tests; prepare culture media, chemicals, reagents, and solutions; maintain sufficient inventory of material, supplies and equipment for lab operations; clean and maintain laboratory equipment; and assist in training new personnel.

REQUIRED: High School diploma or equivalent; exposure to lab research; and good interpersonal and communication skills. PREFERRED: Bachelor's degree in biology or other directly related scientific field; or knowledge of laboratory equipment and molecular biology techniques. Job #24746-4
