Description:
The Department of Psychiatry is looking for a Human Resource Manager to provide HR administrative support.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Advise Department leadership and hiring managers on HR hiring processes, maintain liaison with college and University Human Resources and/or other appropriate offices and departments to respond to human resources matters, issues, and special requests and to facilitate human resources actions.
- Manage hiring process for various employee e-classes including Faculty, Academic Professionals, Civil Service, Courtesy Appointments, Post-Doctoral Research Associates, Rehire Retirees, Interns, and Foreign National Employees. Initiate, review and approved through the campus Human Resources information system (HRFE, JDXpert, Cornerstone, Banner).
- Advise and assist management, faculty, and staff in the handling of employee relations issues, complaints and/or grievances and determination of appropriate disciplinary actions.
- Oversee the work of the HR staff members by providing supervision, management, and prioritization of tasks, initiatives, and outcomes.
- Serve as a resource to managers and employees providing expertise and guidance on HR related matters, including University policy and procedures.
- Serve as liaison to the Office of International Services and initiate visa application processes for international hires.
- Create and edit job descriptions and work closely with the hiring manager and HR Compensation to ensure that Job Descriptions are current.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Any one or any combination totaling five (5) years (60 months) from the following categories below:
A. course work in human resource administration, business administration or a closely related field, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
- 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
- Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
- 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
- Bachelor’s Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
B. progressively more responsible work experience advising and assisting a unit in the application of policies, rules, and regulations, and recommending, developing, and implementing actions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Human Resources Generalist experience.
