Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) is a multi-program laboratory applying state of the art science and practical, high-value, cost-effective solutions to complex technical problems to protect the nation. It is one of a small group of labs performing cutting edge scientific research on issues surrounding nuclear issues such as proliferation, environmental remediation and power grid resiliency. 

Currently, SRNL is in a position to host a Dwight D. Eisenhower Post-Doctoral Fellow to work in the arena of solving complex energy and national defense challenges and is seeking the most qualified, forward-looking individuals in the field to apply for this prestigious position. 

The Dwight D. Eisenhower Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowship is designed for pioneering researchers focused on expanding the boundaries of science and engineering. SRNL seeks exceptional candidates who must be able to demonstrate their scientific productivity through peer-reviewed publications and advanced research approaches to complex problems. 

Successful candidates must be able to work in a team environment and will have exceptional critical thinking and data analysis skills and a demonstrated ability to explore innovative scientific concepts. Candidates must be capable of scoping technical tasks and developing thoughtful, creative solutions. Candidates are also expected to effectively communicate technical results and show potential to generate new ideas and convert them into future programs. This Postdoctoral position is created to challenge the next generation of scientists and engineers to reexamine and push the norms, explore the unknown, and create new discoveries.

The Post-Doctorate Fellows are initial one-year appointments, with an option to renew up to three years. Publication of results from research efforts is highly encouraged.

Basic Qualifications

(Quantifiable; e.g. Three Years Experience, Bachelors Degree)

Position is open to candidates with PhD degrees (obtained within the last 24 months) in engineering and fundamental sciences. PhD students with expected completion dates within the next six months will be considered with documented proof of status from the educational institution. 

Understands and applies advanced knowledge of discipline's standard theories, concepts, principles and techniques; has working knowledge of standard engineering/scientific practices and applications.

 

Preferred Qualifications
(e.g. Masters Degree)

Applicants must have demonstrated exceptional scientific ability and have research interests that are well aligned with current and future programs at Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL). A research proposal (up to five pages) aligned with SRNL’s core competencies or missions, and a minimum of three references are required as part of the application package.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance. Must be a U.S. citizen.
