Position Summary

POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW POSITION: is available immediately at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill (UNC-CH) to study the neuroprotective role of the endocannabinoid system in an animal model of neuroAIDS. The laboratory uses cellular, pharmacological, and behavioral techniques in combination with live cell imaging and electrophysiology to understand the underlying mechanisms of HIVprotein and (endo)cannabinoid interactions. Currently we are seeking a highly motivated, innovative, and independent candidate with a Ph.D. and/or M.D. (received within the last year) with extensive hands on experience in behavioral pharmacology, physiology and organic chemistry. Previous experience with animal research and behavioral pharmacology and cellular neuroscience is a requirement. Candidates who have a strong background in running behavioral assays, mass spectrometry, drug design, and live cell imaging are preferred. Experiences in these techniques should be discussed in the research statement. Training can/will be provided for a range of primary cell culture models as well as behavioral operant and classical conditioning tasks. In addition, the postdoctoral scholar will be mentored to facilitate their transition to an independent research career through the development of writing and presentation skills and through national and international collaborations. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is an equal opportunity employer that welcomes all to apply, including protected veterans and individuals with disabilities.
