Mentor: Rajesh Kana, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Department of Psychology/College of Arts and Sciences, Email: rkana@uab.edu

Background:

UAB consistently ranks as one of the top locations among US universities for training postdoctoral scholars.  Located in Birmingham, Alabama, a metro area of over a million people, where access to technical resources and a collaborative, supportive environment combine to make a strong environment for postdoctoral work, and a very reasonable cost of living makes life on a postdoc salary comfortable.  You will have resources and collaborative opportunities from our Civitan International Neuroimaging Lab including our 3T Siemens Prisma scanner, the UAB Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS), the Comprehensive Neuroscience Center (CNC), the Civitan International Research Center (CIRC), the Alabama Advanced Imaging Consortium (AAIC), and Auburn University’s 7T MRI machine, among other resources.

Job Description and Qualifications

A postdoctoral scholar position is available to work on an NIH-funded R01 project using functional and structural MRI to assess the impact of a reading intervention on comprehension in children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). The position is in the Department of Psychology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, in the Cognition, Brain and Autism Laboratory (www.uab.edu/cbra) headed by Dr. Rajesh Kana.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in an appropriate field, be motivated and have prior experience with programming and imaging data analysis. Prior research experience in the field of autism spectrum disorders, computational methods and diffusion imaging is a plus.  The successful applicant will be responsible for aspects of study coordination and team oversight.

To Apply: Send cover letter detailing your interests and fit with the lab, CV, and contact information for three references by email to Rajesh Kana, Ph.D., at rkana@uab.edu
