Position Description

 

Advertised Job Summary

A full time post-doctoral scientist position is currently available in the laboratory of Dr. Chang Liu at the University of South Carolina, College of Engineering and Computing. Our lab is interested in Biosensor development and Biomarker discovery using nanomaterials, with a focus on their clinical applications on in vitro diagnostics, point-of-care tests, and liquid biopsy for Cancer and Infectious Diseases. Specific research projects include: (1) Development of nanopore devices for HIV and Tuberculosis point-of-care tests; (2) Discovery of novel circulating proteomics/genomics biomarkers for cancer diagnosis and prognosis. We invite applications from highly motivated and well-trained scholars to join our enthusiastic and collaborative research team.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)

Candidates with diverse research background. A PhD or equivalent in Biomedical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biophysics, Biochemistry, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Background in bio-nanotechnology (nanopore, nanomaterials, microfluidics, etc.), biomarker isolation and quantification is preferred. Experience with MATLAB and LabVIEW is a plus. Record of scientific accomplishments with manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals are highly desired for this position.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Excellent English written and verbal communication skills. Must have high degree of motivation and organization skills.
