The Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences, housed in the School of Public Health, at the University of Washington has an outstanding opportunity for a Manager to join their team.
The purpose of this position is to provide multi-level support to the department incorporating the management of postdoctoral fellow, graduate and undergraduate training grants, supervising an administrative staffing team, and serving as a member of the department staff leadership for large initiatives including Financial Transformation.
The position will work directly with faculty to provide assistance with the submission of new and existing training grants supporting post-doctoral fellows, graduate and undergraduate students. The manager will partner with the faculty directors, other managerial staff, students, and interdisciplinary faculty mentors to provide quality learning experiences for about eight post-doctoral fellows and more than forty (40) students. The manager will also provide department staff leadership directly supervising two administrative assistants charged with complex faculty level support associated with research, teaching and service. In addition, the manager will be a member of the department staff leadership contributing to the implementation of Financial Transformation with a focus on procurement and travel process changes.
The manager will have a complex array of duties that integrate several stakeholder groups impacting the University functions of student support and recruitment, faculty support, grant management, and department operations. Quality performance by the manager will support a positive experience by existing and prospective students; provide faculty with key administrative support needed to run complex training grants; serve as a partner with the department team to implement the UW’s new financial system.
