POSITION TITLE: Postdoctoral Associate

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Constantinides Lab studies how microbes influence the development and function of innate lymphocytes (MAIT, iNKT, & gamma-delta T cells and ILCs) and the mechanism by which these immune cells regulate the microbiota and respond to pathogens. We seek a Postdoctoral Associate with published experience in microbiology and microbial analysis (16S rRNA-sequencing, metagenomics, & metabolomics), cancer immunity and transcriptional analysis (single-cell RNA-sequencing and/or spatial transcriptomics), or microscopy (confocal & two-photon). The research project will tailored to the applicant's interests and could include:

1) Understanding how intermicrobial interactions alter host responses

2) Characterizing host-commensal interactions using spatial transciptomics and two-photon microscopy

3) Developing probiotics that enhance cancer immunity

Postdoctoral Associates are appointed positions for the purpose of developing scholarly competence, working under the supervision of a Scripps Research Faculty member. These appointments are normally not renewed beyond a total of five years. Postdoctoral Associates cannot apply for external funding either as a Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator without prior approval from a Departmental Chair. Postdoctoral Associates do not have consulting privileges.

REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess a doctoral degree in a biomedical field, such as immunology, microbiology, cancer biology, or computational biology. A pending doctoral degree may be considered with approval of Dr. Constantinides.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position works in a laboratory environment. Further details of the physical requirements of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.

COMPENSATION: Postdoctoral Associates will be hired following the National Institute of Health and California's exempt salary guidelines, which provide for a starting range of $68,000- $73,230. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
